This year, we’ve seen plenty of mega blockbuster movies from action to rom coms and we just can’t get enough. It’s also been a summer of sequels. Marvel’s movies have all been excellent sequels including Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War, Ant Man and the Wasp, and Deadpool 2. These four movies offer action, comedy, insane stunts and special effects and a whole lot of fun.

Superhero movies aside, rom coms also have done well. Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is an excellent sequel to the original released back in 2008. Most of the original cast returns including some interesting cameos.

Amanda Seyfried, Meryl Streep, Lily James and Pierce Brosnan steal the scenes in an incredible movie featuring some of ABBA’s biggest hits. The legendary Swede band members make hit-and-miss cameos which one should keep an eye on when watching. Legendary diva Cher makes a welcome surprise appearance which is one of the movie’s highlights. Other than that, this musical sequel is one not to be missed.

Action thrillers have always appealed to moviegoers and have that big screen factor going for them too. This time around, Mission Impossible: Fallout sees Tom Cruise return as Ethan Hunt in perhaps the biggest action hit of the year.

This movie has been dominating box office since its release recently and has wowed fans and critics all over. Tom Cruise does another excellent job as Ethan Hunt, a role he has now played for over 20 years in six Mission Impossible motion pictures. The first Mission Impossible came out in 1996 directed by Brian De Palma and catapulted Cruise as an action star. There’s definitely more muscle in Cruise for other sequels as the Top Gun star has always done all his stunts in the Mission Impossible movies; we may get to see even more in future sequels.

Overall, this summer has been amazing for sequels to popular movies and franchises. Be sure to catch them before they get off theaters!
